Semi-Retirement Update – Q1/2022
Welcome to our first Early Semi-Retirement update for 2022. This is where we share the ups and downs of our Coast FIRE journey to Financial Independence and beyond.
This is where we share our Semi-Retirement Updates once a quarter.
We reached Flamingo FI in October 2020 and are now officially semi-retired. We don’t actively add to our savings anymore and just let our nest egg do its thing in the background. This way we will hit FIRE eventually (thanks to the magic of compound interest!) and only need to work part-time until then.
Every three months we share a bit about what we are up to and what our future goals are as well as some insights into how our investments are doing.
If you would like to go back and see how we reached our goal, you can see our monthly updates on the Project 1000 page. This is where we used to share the progress of our journey to freedom every month (2018-2020).

We reached Flamingo FI six months ago and are now officially semi-retired. In this post, I’ll talk about our plan to get to FI in the next 10-15 years while working part-time and without saving and investing another cent for retirement. The Race to Flamingo FI Here is a quick recap of our plan (you … Read more
We are back! It has been over 3 months since our last post and I can report that we survived our first few months as a family of four. Today’s post is our overdue 2020 spending report (how is it March already??).
