Picky Flamingo – Weekend Reads (04/08/2018)
Welcome to the latest edition of Picky Flamingo – Money Flamingo’s Weekly Roundup.
Picky Flamingo is a collection of the best financial independence and personal finance articles I’ve come across during the past week. Expect most of the articles to be from Australian contributors, but you will also find some great international content. The articles cover the themes we talk about here at Money Flamingo – investing, financial independence, early retirement, personal finance, frugality, lifestyle, and happiness. Picky Flamingo is published every Saturday morning. If you would like my weekly picks to be delivered to your inbox, make sure to sign up for the newsletter!
Presenting… This week’s edition of Picky Flamingo:
- How to Retire Early with a Locked-In Pension by Millennial Revolution: I didn’t think I would ever see an article from non-Australian bloggers on how Super fits in with FIRE. But here it is! The Wanderer did a great job explaining how we should think about the Super component of our nest eggs. Plus, he shows us how to use FIREcalc to do the math. A very helpful article!
- The Art of Wealth Preservation by The Escape Artist: A great read for anyone who has accumulated a substantial nest egg already (or is planning to)!
- How super funds play the ratings game (Part 1) by Stockspot: This article explains how funds manipulate their performance to improve their ratings. This really shows that we can’t just trust the media when it comes to finding the right Super fund.
-
The First Simple Step to Retire by Mr Home Maker: The title says it all! When you are done reading, head over to the Second Simple Step To Retire. It really is that simple.
I hope you enjoyed this week’s selection! See you back here next Saturday! 😊
